Wine Art Estate Idisma Drios Chardonnay

Wine Art Estate Idisma Drios Chardonnay. Shiny silver-yellow color. Intense aromatic character, with notes of exotic fruits, vanilla, banana, white flowers and spices. Roundness in the mouth and a pleasantly acidic and lively aftertaste.

Pairs with white meat with mild sauces, pasta with seafood, grilled fish cooked in light sauces. Served as an aperitif.

The Wine Art Estate vineyard lies at the foot of Mount Pangaion – the ancient home of the mythical Greek god of the grape harvest, winemaking and wine; Dionysos. Today, Wine Art Estate produces inspiring wines adapted to, and a reflection of, the unique micro-climate of the Drama region. ‘Techni’ translates to ‘the art of’ and ‘Alipias’, ‘getting rid of sorrows’ and thus accurately describes the appeasement these fresh whites and well balanced red deliver.

Winery Description

The “Wine Art” Estate is owned by two engineers, Giannis Papadopoulos and Giannis Kalaitzidis. In 1993, Giannis Papadopoulos, out of personal interest and care, undertook to revive an old family vineyard in Mikrochori, Drama. Two years later, the involvement of both men with wine brought love and the need for creativity. The “Wine Art” Estate was established and the release of their first wines on the market followed, with the Techni Alipias line of white, rosé and red. In 1999, Idisma Drios Chardonnay launched the monovarietal Idisma Drios line of estate wines to which Assyrtiko, Merlot and Syrah wines were gradually added. In exceptionally good years, Nebbiolo wine was released in a limited number of bottles.

The estate’s goal is to highlight the excellent acclimation of certain international and Greek grape varieties to the Drama ecosystem. Today, the estate vineyards cover an area of 26 hectares and are located in Mikrochori and Kali Vrisi in Drama. The varieties cultivated there include the white Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Malagousia and Assyrtiko varieties and the red Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Nebbiolo, Touriga Nacional, Agiorgitiko and Limnionas varieties.

The winery, which is built in Mikrochori in Drama, combines traditional austerity in aesthetics with contemporary functional infrastructure in the productive process. The spaces are both underground and over-ground, over an area of 3,000 m2, and have a production capacity of 300,000 bottles. The current annual production is 200,000 bottles.
