Recaredo Reserva Particular Brut Nature
Recaredo Reserva Particular Brut Nature represents the Mediterranean in its purest form, interprets the calcareous lands of the easternmost part of the Penedès region and shows the profound character of our oldest Xarel·lo and Macabeu vines.
Mineral and complex, full of inner life with long-lasting flavor. Completely dry brut nature sparkling wine with no added sugar. We recommend serving Reserva Particular at around 10°C and opening the bottle a few minutes before serving.
Recaredo, family of winegrowers. Reserva Particular de Recaredo is made with the Mediterranean varieties Xarel·lo and Macabeu from old vineyards planted between 1950 and 1955 in the sloping banks of the Corpinnat territory (county of Alt Penedès, Barcelona).
Hand-harvested grapes. Harvesting is done completely by hand to maintain the properties of the grapes used for a long-aged sparkling wine.
In-house vinification. Vinification, winemaking and ageing are carried out entirely in Recaredo.
Long-aged wines. Secondary fermentation and bottle ageing are done exclusively with natural cork stoppers. Cork is sustainable, recyclable and ideal for retaining the original character of a long-aged sparkling wine.
Manual disgorging without freezing. Disgorging (the uncorking process) is done by hand without freezing the neck of the bottle, a technique based on skilled craftsmanship and respect for the environment.
In 1962 Josep Mata Capellades, in close collaboration with his sons Josep and Antoni, created the Recaredo Reserva Particular Brut Nature. They had an original idea of conveying the delicateness and the subtle complexity of a long-aged sparkling wine without sacrificing freshness and the most authentic expression of time.
Josep Mata a member of the second generation of the Recaredo family, explains the origin of this special wine: “Recaredo Reserva Particular Brut Nature grew out of a project that our father wanted to share with us.
We all worked together to make a wine intended just for our family. But over time we shared it with friends and customers, and gradually it’s developed into what it is today.”
Antoni Mata, Josep’s brother, says: “At the time, the idea of making a wine like Recaredo Reserva Particular Brut Nature was revolutionary.
Up until then, nobody had thought of making a sparkling wine aged for a long period in wooden barrels, with a brut nature style, showcasing the Xarel·lo and Macabeu varieties.”
Since 1962, three generations of the Recaredo family have cultivated the character of Recaredo Reserva Particular Brut Nature, creating a unique style based on freshness and the authentic expression of time.
The Spanish Association of Journalists and Writers of Wine (AEPEV) has chosen Reserva Particular de Recaredo 2007 as one of the Best Wines of Spain in the category of sparkling wines.
It is an ex aequo recognition granted from a double round vote in which most of the AEPEV members have participated. They had to decide between the 1.118 brands proposed in the first phase of the contest, of which only a total of 131 wines and 46 spirits managed to pass to the final stage.
Recently, the 2007 vintage of Recaredo Reserva Particular Brut Nature has been one of the most lauded wines in the 2021 Guia Peñín, where this Corpinnat aged for over 10 years, scores 98 points, earning it a place among the best wines in this year’s edition. The british magazine Decanter has also included Reserva Particular 2007 among the 6 best wines of Spain.
At the beginning of 2019 Recaredo left DO Cava along with other sparkling wine producers from Penedès that are members of Corpinnat. The brand Corpinnat was presented in April 2018 as a new EU-registered, private certification that champions terroir in Penedès with stricter quality standards than those set by the DO Cava.
