Masseto is the “big brother” of Ornellaia, both of them members of the Frescobaldi family. They produce only two labels, Masseto & Massetino, the latter available since 2019. The dominating variety is Merlot, but they also use a small percentage of Cabernet Franc only in the 2nd label, that of Massetino. Unfortunately, the winery is not open for visits, but since we were on the region we visited the other famous property of the company, Ornellaia, for a unique experience where art joins vinification to produce an excellent result.
