Description

Domaines Schlumberger Vendanges Tardives Pinot Gris Cuvee Laure

The robe is bright golden yellow with light green reflections of good intensity. The disk is bright, limpid and transparent. The wine shows youth.

The nose is marked, pleasant and intense. Dominated by candied and overripe scents. We perceive honey but also yellow fruits, quince, Mirabelle plum, a slight floral hint of orange blossom and a complex and smoky personality. The airing enhances the previous scents and reveals a fine pastry touch, a landed note, mushroom and white flowers. The nose reflects the beautiful ripening of the grapes. The complexity/diversity of scents is pleasant.

The onset in the mouth is moderately ample, semi-liquorish. Full-bodied. The wine evolves on a medium with a frank and nervous vivacity, marked by a sparking note. We find the same candied aromas, dominated by yellow fruits, quince, Mirabelle plum, apricot, honey, orange blossom and still this fine and underlying complex smoky touch. The finish has a good length, 6-7 caudalies, and a frank and refreshing vivacity. The structure is dominated by reichness. It is semi-liquorish, balanced/magnified by the quality of the botrytis. Wonderful sorting in the vineyard !

Domaines Schlumberger Vendanges Tardives Pinot Gris Cuvee Laure is ideal to accompany a French brioche toasted with Floc de Gascogne, a pan-fried foie gras with dried fruits, an apricot chutney or an unpasteurized blue-veined cheese. Or even a Tortell or a Mirabelle plum pie.
