The Monks call him Lucien, but his friends call him Le Moine. Mounir Saouma, in his real name, is a living legend, a vinifying druid. A real lover of Burgundy, he learned his craft there, with his uncle and mentor, the Abbé father. When he arrived in France with his spouse Rothem, The Côte d’Or became his asylum. He had fun wirth three different Estates, before to create his own, using grapes growns by friends. Very quickly, he secured a sourcing in selected Premiers and Grand Crus. In total, 38 winegrowers from Burgundy find their grapes bottled under his own label and the name of the Estate made perfect sense: Lucien le Moine. The juices are vinified and aged using the same traditionnal Burgundian techniques that he learned back at the monastery. The full range swiftly made its way into the very finest wines of Burgundy. The story is magical, but then so are the wines!
