Burn Cottage Riesling Gruner Veltliner. Enticing notes of chamomile, spice, butterscotch, citrus blossom, lemon zest and apricot kernel. The vintage is showing wonderful suppleness and finesse, accompanied by a focused and delicate acidity. Delicious and textural, there is a lovely structured element to the long palate.

A very warm vintage with above average temperatures in December and January. Mid-season conditions were also very calm with low wind-run and no significant rainfall, so the season was progressing well ahead of usual timing. Some rain, and then overall milder conditions in February and March meant ripening slowed favorably. Late season conditions had helped to give lovely ripeness while retaining balance and finesse. Very low yields of Gruner Veltliner this year coupled with warm conditions, meant this ripened early and it was picked separately a week ahead of the Riesling. Both varieties were in great condition, with a lovely mix of pale lime and golden skins, and beautiful flavors.
