Burn Cottage Moonlight Race Pinot Noir
Burn Cottage Moonlight Race Pinot Noir. Wonderful savory and herb tones are supported by spice, red fruit, pepper and mineral complexity. Supple and elegant, the wine is focused with a lovely freshness and fine smooth tannin extending the palate. Cellaring potential to 7 years.
A very warm vintage with above average temperatures in December and January. Mid-season conditions were very calm with low wind-run and no significant rainfall, so the season was tracking well ahead of usual timing. Some rain, and then overall milder conditions in February and March meant ripening slowed favorably towards harvest. The 2018 harvest was the earliest to date commencing 13th March, however those late season conditions had helped to give lovely ripeness whilst retaining balance and finesse.

Winery Description
Burn Cottage Vineyard Property is a twenty four hectare estate in the foothills of the Pisa range in Central Otago, New Zealand. The vineyard is owned by the Sauvage family which also owns the celebrated Koehler Ruprecht estate in the Pfalz region of Germany, as well as several fine wine importing and wholesaling companies in the United States.
Great wines are not made from fruit; they are born of the soils which nurture the vines. Unlike many new world producers, Burn Cottage Vineyard does not make wine from “fruit”. Burn Cottage makes wines from vineyard blocks with individual character traits on an estate property.
